Murmur offers services for legal professionals to experience the power of somatics as a pragmatic methodology that supports the well-being of the legal community inside an industry that too often disregards the health and wellness of its practitioners. Somatics emphasizes the important role our body plays in healing and transforming through existing institutionalized conditions, teaching practitioners how to embody greater awareness, agency and accountability to reimagine and redefine their role in the legal justice system.

At Murmur, we know that traditional approaches to team building and professional development are not as accessible, relevant or effective in meeting the unique challenges of these unprecedented times. We have the opportunity to reshape how we organize, build, and grow towards a safe, caring and equitable future, within and across sectors and industry. We have the opportunity to redefine what it means to work and care for one another. This type of transformation requires learning and integrating new adaptive strategies that center embodiment to support teams in making their visions inevitable.
We bring an anti-racism and design justice lens to our work, grounded in the belief that systems of oppression are created by design with the suffering of BIPOC people in mind and so can be designed towards liberation instead. For Murmur, that means bringing the voices of BIPOC people and youth to the front. We create mechanics in our processes to weight and center traditionally marginalized voices: for example, we give youth more voting power in group decisions, encourage white people to lead by listening, and make a regular habit of calling us back to the group agreements that we set for liberatory practice in the beginning of our collaboration.
We work on multi-racial teams that use our identities to strategically speak to different stakeholders in different ways. We use affinity groups to avoid emotional harm and facilitate anti-racism learning and practice where necessary. Our process design creates a space for BIPOC people to thrive with wellness and possibility.
